Accounts Payable Team Leader

As we continue to grow, we’re looking for a hands-on Accounts Payable Team Leader to lead a small AP team of three and take ownership of the end-to-end Accounts Payable function. This role suits someone who has come from a larger AP environment and is ready to step into a leadership position with both operational and people responsibility.
You’ll lead day-to-day AP operations while staying close to the detail, reviewing payments, managing queries, supporting processing, and ensuring accuracy and control across all AP activity. You’ll also receive a structured handover to ensure a smooth transition into the role.
✨ Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and support a small Accounts Payable team of three, including workload allocation, prioritisation, coaching, development, and performance reviews
- Take a hands-on approach to end-to-end AP processing, including invoices, expenses, AP inbox management, and escalated queries
- Review and approve weekly and international payment runs while maintaining accurate supplier ledgers across multiple entities
- Oversee monthly supplier reconciliations, support month-end close, and assist with reporting requirements
- Manage escalated supplier discrepancies and ensure timely resolution
- Own AP processes end-to-end, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency
- Drive continuous improvement, system optimisation, strong financial controls, and GST compliance
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Strong end-to-end Accounts Payable experience in a high-volume environment.
- Previous leadership experience is highly regarded; however, we will also consider someone with strong AP experience who is ready and motivated to step into a leadership role.
- A hands-on, detail-focused approach with strong technical AP capability.
- Confidence managing payment runs, reconciliations, and month-end processes.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience with ERP systems (Microsoft Business Central advantageous).
- Advanced Excel and strong systems capability.
- A proactive, organised, and solutions-focused mindset.
