Are you seeking a role with a values-driven for purpose organisation where you can support young people in our community? Are you looking to branch out from your Centre-based role in the community? Are you passionate about providing outreach services and facilitating engagement?

This position of Community Outreach Worker supports our mission by directing and delivering assertive and mobile outreach to identify, engage, and work with young people who are experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness, to achieve sustainable outcomes. Acting alongside the Intake and Brief Intervention team, this position works in close collaboration with internal and external service providers including Brisbane Zero, as well as stakeholders and supports within the wider community.

You’ll be a great candidate for this role if you have:

  • A tertiary qualification in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, Social Sciences, or comparable qualification OR substantial demonstrated experience in a related field.
  • Experience in conducting street-based outreach and the ability to build trusting relationships and complete holistic assessments with young people (including risk assessments and safety planning).
  • The ability to provide assessments, brief intervention and planned support to young people, including identifying housing goals, tenancy skills and other supports for young people
  • Experience facilitating referrals and support young people to access housing, legal, physical and mental health support, education and employment, and engage with their community
  • The ability to participate in case planning, review, service planning and quality practice development activities as required.
  • Strong communication skills, including interpersonal skills and writing skills and the ability to advocate effectively on behalf of others.

Given the work that we do there will be a few non-negotiables. You’ll need to be able to have, or obtain prior to commencement:

  • Working with Children Suitability Card [Blue Card].
  • National Police Check clearance.
  • Evidence of vaccination, immunity, or medical exemption for the following preventable diseases - Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Varicella [Chicken Pox], and Pertussis [Whooping Cough].
