Our client is dedicated to delivering homes that are not only affordable and energy-efficient but also engineered to meet strict Australian standards (NCC) and local council regulations. In this role, you will be integral to the entire project lifecycle - from initial site analysis and structural design through to on-site coordination and delivery. You will collaborate closely with accredited trades and the manufacturing team, ensuring that each custom home, studio, or granny flat is built with durability, safety, and efficiency.

Key Duties and Responsibilities Design and Planning

  • Interpret and develop detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and construction methodologies for modular prefab homes, ensuring full compliance with the National Construction Code (NCC) and relevant Australian Standards.
  • Analyse structural systems for both static and dynamic loads, designing building frames and foundations that guarantee structural integrity during transport, installation, and throughout the building's lifespan.
  • Assess geotechnical reports and site data to determine safe soil loading capacities, making recommendations for appropriate foundation systems that suit ground conditions.

Project Coordination and Site Management

  • Organise and direct site establishment activities, including the coordination of labour, delivery of modular components, and management of plant and equipment to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Establish and maintain detailed site activity programs, synchronising the efforts of factory production, transport logistics, and on-site installation teams to meet project timelines.
  • Liaise with site supervisors and trades to resolve technical issues, ensuring all on-site works align with engineered designs and quality standards.

Cost Estimation and Budgetary Control

  • Prepare comprehensive cost plans and project estimates by studying architectural drawings and engineering specifications, providing accurate forecasts to support client budgets.
  • Monitor and assess the cost impacts of design variations, preparing valuations and assisting in the negotiation of variations with suppliers and stakeholders to maintain financial control.

Logistics and Compliance

  • Plan and manage the logistical aspects of transporting completed modules from the Nerang facility to sites across Queensland and Australia, ensuring transport methods safeguard structural integrity.
  • Conduct quality assurance inspections and maintain rigorous documentation to verify that all structural, plumbing, and electrical works comply with QBCC requirements and local council approvals.
  • Liaise with certifiers and regulatory bodies to secure necessary approvals, navigating council-specific requirements for both permanent installations and portable housing solutions.

Skills and Experience Required

  • A recognised bachelor’s degree in civil engineering (or equivalent) that meets the requirements for membership with Engineers Australia.
  • Proven 2 years’ experience in a civil engineering role within the construction industry; exposure to residential projects, prefabrication, or modular building systems is highly regarded.
  • Strong working knowledge of the National Construction Code (NCC), Australian Standards for structures, and local council planning schemes.
  • Proficiency in structural analysis software and the ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and geotechnical reports.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple facets of a project simultaneously, including design coordination, site supervision, and stakeholder communication.
  • A proactive problem-solver with excellent attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality, compliant outcomes.

If you are a dedicated Civil Engineer looking to contribute to the future of modern housing, we encourage you to apply. Please note: This position is being advertised on behalf of our client.
