Workfast are currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter – Generators to join a busy and well-established workshop team, commencing immediately. This is an ongoing position with the opportunity to transition to permanent employment after a successful probation period.

• $55/hr (depending on tickets and experience)
• Penalties + afternoon/night shift rates
• Full-time hours | Monday – Friday

This role will see you working on a range of diesel-powered generators, completing servicing, overhauls, fault finding, breakdown repairs and preventative maintenance both in the workshop and occasionally on-site.

What You Will Be Doing:

• Servicing, maintaining and repairing diesel generators and associated equipment
• Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults across generator systems
• Performing load bank testing, commissioning and calibration
• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, schematics and wiring diagrams
• Overhauling engines, alternators and fuel systems
• Completing breakdown repairs and preventative maintenance schedules
• General workshop duties including tool maintenance and housekeeping
• Working day shift, afternoon shift or occasional Saturdays as required
• Complying with Workplace Health & Safety standards

The Requirements:

• Mechanical Trade Qualification (Mechanical Fitter/Diesel Fitter or equivalent)
• Experience working on diesel generators (essential)
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic capability
• Experience with mechanical, hydraulic and auto-electrical systems
• HR Licence (preferred but not essential)
• Forklift ticket (advantageous)
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship
