Redmond Gary is a long established, well-respected and continuously growing manufacturer based at Molendinar on the Gold Coast, whose diverse range of Elevating Work Platforms and Cable Handling Equipment is highly regarded in the Electrical and Mining industries throughout Australia.

A core pillar of our business is our in-house engineering team who keep complete control of the overall machine designs and are responsible for ensuring compliance to necessary legislation as well as continuing improving and innovating our designs to stay competitive in our market.

This permanent position is available for a Mechanical Engineer to become a valued member of our team, where your skills are appreciated and your dedication is rewarded. 

On the job training will be provided where necessary. 

Position Requirements

  • Provide designs that are sound, safe for use and suitable for manufacturing

  • Perform engineering calculations and analysis as required

  • Perform Finite Element Analysis to validate designs if required

  • Ensure work complies with relevant standards and legislation

  • Produce concept designs, layouts and documentation for R&D works and/or to assist the sales team with quotations

  • Produce bill of materials and build specifications required for manufacturing

  • General 3D modelling and 2D drafting of drawings, using both AutoCAD and Solid Edge CAD packages

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement and innovation of our products

  • Undertake reviews and sign-off of peer work to ensure compliance, manufacturing suitability and fit for purpose

  • Liaising with suppliers and other contractors to obtain the best engineering solutions and value for money for the firm

  • Updating or creating technical written documents such as user manuals, risk assessments, reports, procedures, etc

  • Ensuring on-time completion of assigned work tasks and performing suitable overtime when needed

  • Collaborating with peers, production personnel and other departments as required

  • Participating in a shared learning environment; assisting others with learning, and learning from others too

Qualifications/Experience Required

  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering

  • At least 5+ years of experience in a Mechanical Designing role

  • Strong understanding of Mechanical Engineering principles

  • Highly developed CAD and drafting skills including experience with large assemblies

  • Innovative mind-set with the ability to Problem Solve and think outside the square

  • Ability to work autonomously

  • Ability to work collaboratively within a small team with engineers across different disciplines

  • Good communication skills; both inter-company/staff communication and quality written communication for Engineering reports / Instructional Procedures

  • Willingness to mentor less-experienced staff (when required)

  • Experience in FEA Analysis would be advantageous  

  • An RPEQ title will be adventurous or otherwise be willing to works towards it
