St Hilda’s School, Gold Coast invites applications for the permanent full-time position of Maintenance Groundsperson commencing 07 April 2026.
We are seeking a friendly, reliable, hands-on and motivated Maintenance Groundsperson to join our dedicated and highly regarded Operations team. You will play an important role in maintaining the safety, functionality and exemplary appearance of our School. Working alongside a supportive team, you will carry out a broad range of maintenance, grounds and operational tasks to ensure our facilities are always at their best.

About The Position
The key duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Maintenance and repairs of facilities, grounds, equipment and buildingsAssisting with function set-up and pack-down and moving of furnitureOperation of machinery and maintenance of equipmentCollection and removal of rubbish and the cleaning of rubbish binsDeliveries of packages to various departments and/or individualsDaily leaf blowing of the campusAssist with mowing of lawns by push or ride on mowersHedging with motorised equipmentUse of chemicals, such as paints, chlorine, fuelsLine Marking to ovalsProviding support to any of the Supervisors, as required and communicated Regular reporting and recording of particular information;Participating in meetings and/or training as and when required.
Selection Criteria
Current Qld driver's licence Current Qld Working with Children Check (Blue Card) or willingness to obtain prior to commencementDemonstrated experience in grounds maintenance, building maintenance or a related tradeAbility to operate ride-on mowers, blowers, hedgers and other grounds equipmentStrong work ethic with the ability to work independently and as part of a teamGood communication skills and a proactive, can-do attitudeAbility to follow verbal and written instructions and prioritise tasks effectivelyKnowledge of and commitment to workplace health and safety practices and safe chemical handling proceduresPhysical fitness and capacity to perform manual and outdoor labour for extended periods, including lifting, bending, pushing and carrying Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions Capacity to operate vibrating and motorised equipment safely over sustained periodsReliable, punctual and self-motivated with a strong work ethicDemonstrated commitment to maintaining high standards of presentation and cleanliness Respectful and professional conduct in a school environment, with an ability to understand and follow child safety obligations.
