The Civil Engineer is responsible for the planning, design, coordination, and delivery of civil engineering projects across infrastructure, land development, transportation, utilities, drainage, and site development sectors. The role ensures projects are delivered in accordance with Australian Standards, legislative requirements, client specifications, and industry best practices. The Civil Engineer provides technical expertise throughout all project phases, including feasibility assessments, design development, approvals, construction support, and project completion, while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, sustainability, cost control, and timely delivery. Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, authorities, and clients, the position contributes to the successful execution of projects and the achievement of organisational objectives.

Task & responsibilities

  • Prepare civil engineering designs, calculations, drawings, and specifications.
  • Conduct site investigations, feasibility studies, and engineering assessments.
  • Develop solutions for land development, drainage, roads, utilities, and infrastructure projects.
  • Review engineering documentation for compliance with applicable regulations and standards.
  • Plan, coordinate, and monitor project activities from concept through completion.
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, resources, and deliverables.
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, consultants, local authorities, and stakeholders.
  • Prepare project reports, progress updates, and technical documentation.
  • Prepare engineering reports, tender documentation, and construction specifications.
  • Support drafting teams in producing 2D and 3D engineering drawings.
  • Review designs and documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Conduct site inspections and monitor construction activities.
  • Ensure works comply with approved designs, safety requirements, and quality standards.
  • Identify project risks and implement corrective actions where necessary.
  • Provide technical guidance to contractors and project teams.
  • Ensure compliance with Australian Standards, Building Codes, and local council requirements.
  • Participate in risk assessments and workplace health and safety initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate engineering records and project documentation.

Qualification & experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
  • Full working rights in Australia.
  • Experience in civil engineering design and project delivery.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian engineering standards and regulations.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or equivalent engineering software.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical reporting skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience in land development and infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of stormwater, drainage, roads, and utility design.
  • Experience with project management methodologies.
  • Familiarity with GIS, BIM, or advanced design technologies.
  • Experience working with local councils and regulatory authorities.
