Job Description

We are seeking skilled perioperative nurses to join the Theatre and Recovery team at SSDS on the beautiful Gold Coast. Working across intraoperative and post-operative care, you will play a key role in ensuring patient safety and clinical excellence throughout the surgical journey.

As a member of our clinical team, you will plan, deliver and evaluate patient care with the support and guidance of the Nurse Unit Manager, Clinical Nurse and Shift Leaders, to ensure a high standard of quality service is provided to our patients.

In this role you will:

  • Assist with intraoperative patient care, including scrub, scout and circulating duties as required.
  • Provide specialised post-operative monitoring and management in the recovery setting, including airway management, haemodynamic monitoring, pain and nausea control.
  • Respond to unexpected outcomes and apply problem-solving skills in emergency situations within the perioperative department.
  • Collaborate effectively with surgeons, anaesthetists, and the nursing team to achieve safe, efficient patient transitions.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation in line with ACORN standards and Ramsay Health Care policy.

About You

You are an experienced perioperative nurse with a solid foundation in theatre and/or recovery nursing and a commitment to patient safety throughout the surgical continuum. You will also demonstrate:

  • Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse (essential).
  • Minimum two (2) years' perioperative nursing experience in theatre or recovery (essential).
  • Demonstrated ability to assess, plan, coordinate and evaluate patient care needs in a surgical setting.
  • Sound knowledge of infection control principles and ACORN standards.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and a high standard of customer-focused service.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining positive working relationships.
  • Flexibility to work a rotating 7-day roster, including evenings and weekends.
  • Postgraduate qualifications in perioperative nursing will be highly regarded.
