HOTA, Home of the Arts Precinct

This role will be based at HOTA, Home of the Arts. HOTA is an iconic Gold Coast destination where art, entertainment, culture and lifestyle meet. A place that locals love and visitors must-see. HOTA offers a diverse suite of venues and facilities, including a gallery, outdoor stage, indoor theatres and cinemas, function and events rooms, as well as a range of food and beverage venues including the HOTA Café, the rooftop Exhibitionist Bar and three hat Palette Restaurant.

 At the heart of HOTA’s identity is a rich and diverse program: live music, theatre, dance, comedy, film, visual art exhibitions, children’s shows, community workshops, and festivals - all taking place across the array of venues.

About the Role

Are you eager to gain hands-on experience in a professional kitchen? Do you thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment? HOTA, the Gold Coast’s premier cultural and dining destination, is seeking a Casual Kitchen Attendant to join our talented team and support our world-class chefs.

As a Kitchen Attendant, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our kitchen during service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain Cleanliness & Hygiene: Ensure the kitchen and all work areas are kept clean, including washing dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment.

  • Support the Team: Help by checking off and properly storing incoming stock to ensure the kitchen is fully stocked and organised.

  • Assist with Food Prep: Support chefs by assisting with basic food preparation tasks under the guidance of a senior team member.

  • Follow Safety & Cleanliness Protocols: Adhere to food safety standards and cleanliness protocols, ensuring a safe and hygienic kitchen environment at all times.

  • Assist Kitchen Staff: Lend a hand to chefs and other kitchen staff with various tasks as needed, ensuring smooth kitchen operations during service.

  • Organise & Manage Kitchen Equipment: Ensure that all kitchen equipment is clean, safe, and in proper working order, assisting with maintenance as required.

  • Waste Management: Help with the proper disposal and recycling of waste, keeping the kitchen tidy and environmentally responsible.

  • Assist with Stock Rotation: Help maintain proper stock rotation to ensure the freshness and quality of ingredients used in our dishes.

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience in a Kitchen Attendant or similar role

  • A good understanding of food safety standards and relevant legislation

  • Experience working safely with kitchen equipment and utensils

  • Knowledge of manual handling techniques to safely lift and carry kitchen items

  • Strong attention to detail and a willingness to work hard in a fast-paced environment

  • A positive attitude, strong communication skills, and the ability to work as part of a team
