Job Description

Provide general cleaning duties for the new Odyssey Lifestyle Care Community building on Chevron Island. Start date late May. The Cleaner is responsible to provide cleaning services which contribute to a safe, clean and hygienic Community that results in a homely environment for all staff and residents.

To provide services to residents to ensure compliance with the Retirement Village Act and Odyssey Application for Residence.

Essential Qualifications/Skill Requirements

Experience in cleaning and the use of cleaning materials, equipment, and chemicals.

Ability to work as a team member to achieve organisational goals.

Versatility and an ability to respond appropriately to changing circumstances.

An ability to work within a structured environment.

Strong commitment to working with frail and aged people.

Demonstrated commitment towards professional development and maintenance of mandatory Competencies.

Willingness to increase knowledge of, and work in accord with, the Retirement Village Act, 1999 and the Aged Care Quality Standards.

National Police Clearance Certificate

Eligibility to work in Australia.

Knowledge and understanding of personal protective equipment, chemical handling, and OH & S.

Key Responsibilities

Provide general cleaning duties as instructed by the Community Manager, refer to Cleaning Schedules in the Odyssey Quality Management System QMS;

Cleaning, washing, sweeping, mopping, dusting, polishing and vacuum cleaning of designated areas to the required standard;

Emptying litter bins, etc., and removing waste to designated areas;

Respond to emergency calls during normal working hours and when on rostered shifts;

Maintains records of completion of cleaning scheduled duties;

Safe storage and use of cleaning agents including correct cleaning agents used in correct quantize for each task;

Maintain HAZCHEM audits.

Manage complaints in a timely and transparent manner, investigating causes and developing strategies to prevent re-occurrence, report all complaints to the Community Manager.

Ongoing education, internal assessment and review of procedures, evaluation of new products and equipment.

Workplace Health and Safety

Participates in the risk management and infection control programs and contributes to a clean and safe work

environment to ensure safety of residents / visitors, other staff and self;

Reports immediately any equipment or situation that is hazardous, or has the potential to be a safety issue;

Participates in problem solving process to resolve OH&S and infection control issues.

At no time must information related to a resident/family or staff member be discussed with anyone other than the relevant staff member/care professional providing care/service;

A flexible and enthusiastic attitude toward undertaking a variety of tasks, and demonstrated commitment to ongoing quality, with a team approach is expected.

Provide an excellent level of customer service to both internal and external customers.

Job Type: Casual

Pay: $27.00 – $34.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 38 per week
