Dosa Hut - Indian Multi Cuisine Restaurant Gold Coast is seeking an experienced and passionate Cook to join its dynamic kitchen team in Molendinar, Queensland.

The successful candidate will assist in preparing authentic Indian and South Indian cuisine while maintaining high standards of food quality, presentation, hygiene, and kitchen efficiency. This role is ideal for a motivated hospitality professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced restaurant environment and delivering exceptional dining experiences. The restaurant is well known for its extensive Indian menu, including dosas, biryanis, curries, Indo-Chinese dishes, and street food specialties.

Task & responsibilities

  • Preparing and cooking a variety of Indian and South Indian dishes, including dosas, curries, biryanis, and tandoori items 
  • Assisting in daily kitchen operations and food preparation activities 
  • Ensuring food is prepared and presented to high quality standards 
  • Monitoring portion control, food preparation, and plating consistency 
  • Maintaining cleanliness and organisation of kitchen and food preparation areas 
  • Ensuring compliance with food safety, hygiene, and workplace health regulations 
  • Checking freshness and quality of ingredients and food supplies 
  • Assisting with stock rotation, storage, and inventory management 
  • Operating kitchen equipment safely and efficiently 
  • Supporting kitchen staff during busy service periods 
  • Minimising food wastage and maintaining cost-effective kitchen practices 
  • Following kitchen procedures and maintaining consistent food quality standards 

Qualification & experience

  • Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or related qualification preferred 
  • Minimum 1  year of relevant work experience in a commercial kitchen or restaurant environment may substitute for formal qualifications 
  • Experience preparing Indian cuisine and South Indian dishes preferred 
  • Good understanding of food safety and hygiene practices 
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced hospitality environment 
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills 
  • Ability to manage time effectively during busy service periods 
  • Passion for quality food preparation and customer satisfaction
