ESSEN GROUP PTY LTD is seeking a skilled Chef to join our team. As a Chef, you will be responsible for planning, preparing, and presenting high-quality dishes for our customers. Your duties will include overseeing food preparation, maintaining kitchen operations, ensuring compliance with food safety and hygiene standards, managing stock and inventory, and contributing to menu development.

Task & responsibilities

•    Plan and organise the preparation and cooking of food 

•    Estimate food and labour costs involved with the preparation of meals 

•    Plan menus 

•    Freeze and preserve food products 

•    Follow OH&S and other hygiene regulations 

•    Monitor food quality at all time of preparation 

•    Monitor plate presentation, garnish dishes and ensure its quality 

•    Demonstrate techniques and advise on cooking procedures 

•    Operate kitchen equipment 

•    Prepare and cook food 

•    Select and train staff 

•    Order and purchase all ingredients and menu items with suppliers 

•    Inspect food products for quality assurance 

•    Solve any food preparation problems 

•    Explain and ensure hygiene is maintained 

•    Keep foods at the appropriate temperatures 

•    Discuss issues related to food preparation with Managers, Dietitians and kitchen and waiting staff. 

Qualification & experience

• Hold an Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma, or Diploma in a related field; or have at least 3 years of relevant cookery/culinary work experience in place of the formal qualification.
• Have a minimum of 1 year of experience working as a Chef.
