The Cafe Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of the café, ensuring efficient operations, exceptional customer service, team leadership, financial performance, and compliance with food safety and workplace requirements. Task & responsibilities
The role includes duties consistent with Cafe Manager, including (but not limited to):
- Planning and organising daily café operations.
- Monitoring customer service standards and ensuring a positive customer experience.
- Coordinating and supervising café staff, including rostering and performance management.
- Recruiting, training and mentoring employees.
- Managing stock levels, ordering supplies and controlling inventory.
- Ensuring compliance with food safety, workplace health and safety, and company policies.
- Monitoring financial performance, budgets and operating costs.
- Implementing strategies to improve sales, profitability and operational efficiency.
- Handling customer enquiries, complaints and feedback professionally.
- Maintaining quality standards for food, beverages and service delivery.
- Liaising with suppliers and service providers.
- Preparing operational reports and maintaining business records.
- Ensuring the café presentation and cleanliness standards are consistently maintained.
- Promoting a positive workplace culture focused on teamwork and customer satisfaction.
Qualification & experience
- At least an AQF Diploma level qualification or higher in Hospitality Management, Business, or a related field;
- At least three years of relevant full-time management experience in a café, restaurant, or hospitality environment.
- Demonstrated experience managing staff and day-to-day hospitality operations.
- Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills.
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced customer-focused environment.
- Sound understanding of food safety and workplace health and safety requirements.
- Experience with stock control, ordering, budgeting and cost management.
