Our client is a highly regarded Gold Coast commercial law firm seeking a Senior Associate / Special Counsel to join its specialist Leasing Team. This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced practitioner to step into a leadership role within a sophisticated practice acting for major landlords and developers across commercial, retail, and industrial leasing.

In this role, you will maintain direct partner access while also taking on a key leadership position, including the opportunity to lead a team of 4 with access to dedicated support staff. You will play a central role in driving matters forward, mentoring junior lawyers, and contributing to the continued development and success of the team.

Key Responsibilities

• Leading and overseeing complex commercial, retail, and industrial leasing matters
• Drafting, negotiating, and reviewing high-value lease documentation and related agreements
• Supervising and mentoring junior lawyers within the leasing team
• Managing client relationships and providing strategic advice across leasing transactions
• Overseeing workflow, matter progression, and contributing to process improvement initiatives
• Supporting large-scale development and commercial transactions

About You

• Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent and admitted (or eligible for admission) in Queensland
• Significant experience in leasing law at Senior Associate or Special Counsel level
• Strong technical drafting, negotiation, and advisory skills
• Proven leadership capability, with experience supervising or mentoring junior lawyers (or the willingness to learn)
• Commercially astute, detail-focused, and confident managing client relationships and complex matters
