The Opportunity

We are seeking an identified Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person to fill the position of Transport Officer. This role plays a vital part in supporting clients, community members, and staff through the safe, respectful, and timely transport of individuals across our service areas.

In this position, you will contribute directly to improving access to healthcare and community support services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. You will provide safe and reliable transport to and from medical appointments, community programs, and other approved services, helping to reduce barriers and strengthen overall health and wellbeing outcomes.

You will work within a culturally grounded organisation where connection, respect, and care are central to everything we do. This role goes beyond transport services, it is about supporting people with dignity, building trust, and ensuring every journey is carried out in a safe and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide safe and reliable transport services for clients, community members, and staff
  • Ensure a high standard of cultural respect, care, and professionalism at all times
  • Plan efficient routes and respond appropriately to changing schedules or transport needs
  • Maintain accurate records, including transport logs, vehicle checklists, and reporting documentation
  • Conduct routine vehicle safety checks and ensure vehicles are clean, roadworthy, and well maintained
  • Communicate effectively with clients, families, Elders, and staff in a respectful and culturally appropriate manner

What You’ll Bring

  • Positive attitude and strong commitment to providing quality service
  • Current Open Australian Driver’s Licence (clean driving record)
  • Experience driving safely and responsibly, ideally transporting clients or vulnerable persons
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Basic computer skills for record keeping and reporting

Mandatory Requirements

  • Current Driver Licence
  • Blue Card (Working with Children Check)
  • National Police Check
  • Ability to work full-time hours: 38 hours per week (Monday–Thursday 8:00am–4:30pm, Friday 8:00am–4:00pm)
